Our dental clinic is open and you can read our COVID-safe procedures here.
We have unfortunately had to temporarily stop our beauty treatments in line with Government regulations. All existing appointments will be rescheduled.
Wedding photography has never been more unforgiving, high-resolution cameras, close-up portraits, and years of looking back at those images make many couples and wedding party members particularly conscious of their smiles. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular treatments we carry out in the months leading up to weddings, and with good reason. The improvement can be significant, the price point is low and the process is far simpler than many people expect.
The key is planning ahead. Here is exactly what we recommend for the best results.
We recommend starting the whitening process at least ten to twelve weeks before your wedding date. This gives you time for the full course of whitening, a review appointment to assess your shade, any top-up if needed, and a period of settling time before the big day.
Why the settling period matters: whitening gel works partly by creating tiny pores in the enamel surface, which can make teeth temporarily more susceptible to restaining immediately after treatment. Teeth also sometimes look very bright in the first days after completing whitening, and then settle to their true final shade. We recommend completing your whitening course with at least 4 weeks to spare before the wedding so that your shade is stable and settled for the day itself. Also the period just before your big day is super stressful and having your whitening already completed is one less thing to worry about.
At your first appointment, we check your dental health and take a digital intraoral scan of your teeth, no impressions, no gagging. Your bespoke whitening trays are fabricated from this scan and are ready approximately two weeks later. During that two-week wait, we give you a prescription desensitising toothpaste to use twice daily. This preparation phase is a distinctive part of our protocol and makes a meaningful difference to comfort during treatment.
When your trays arrive, you begin the whitening programme at home, wearing the trays at night for as little as two hours, ideally overnight. The desensitising toothpaste is used inside the trays alongside the Boutique Whitening gel throughout the programme. We see you for a review at four weeks and again at six weeks. Both reviews are included in the £299 fee.
Working back from your wedding date, your first appointment should be booked at least ten to twelve weeks beforehand. This builds in the two-week lab turnaround, the two-week desensitising phase, the 4 to 6 week whitening programme, and a settling period before the day.
One of the benefits of professional whitening is that you keep your bespoke trays. If you would like to freshen your shade a few days before the wedding or some time in the future for a significant event, a single syringe of top-up gel is all you need — no new trays, no new appointments. We can supply top-up gel at any time.
Many wedding party patients combine whitening with composite bonding to address chips, shape concerns, or gaps, or with composite bonding for the wedding party as a group. If you are considering multiple treatments, please allow additional time in your timeline. Always whiten first, composite bonding is shade-matched after whitening so everything is colour-consistent. For composite bonding we need to wait 2 weeks after the whitening has completed before we add composite to the teeth to ensure a strong bond.
We love being part of wedding preparations. Our whitening uses Boutique Whitening , on offer for the summer at £299 for the full 4 to 6 week programme . Pennington Dental Teeth Whitening on our 6 week protocol with Boutique is consistently one of our most popular pre-wedding treatments. It is one of the most rewarding areas of our work. If you are preparing for your wedding in the Stratford-upon-Avon or Kenilworth area, book your free whitening consultation as early as possible. We can help you plan your complete smile timeline.
