Teeth whitening remains one of our most popular treatments, and it is easy to understand why, it is non-invasive, delivers genuine results, and requires no recovery time whatsoever.

Most adults with healthy teeth and gums are suitable candidates. Before any whitening treatment, we conduct a thorough dental health check to confirm your teeth and gums are in good shape. If we spot any decay, gum disease, or other concerns, we will treat these first, whitening on compromised teeth can cause unnecessary sensitivity and will not deliver the results you are hoping for.
Teeth whitening is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and is not suitable for patients under 18. It is also worth noting that whitening works only on natural tooth enamel — it will not change the shade of crowns, veneers, or white fillings.
At our Kenilworth practice, we use Boutique Whitening, a professional-grade whitening product available only by prescription from a registered dental professional. This gives us access to the effective hydrogen peroxide concentrations that produce real, visible results, within a fully regulated and safe framework.
We also include desensitising agents in our whitening protocol, which significantly reduces the temporary sensitivity that some patients experience.
Your free initial consultation is relaxed and unhurried. You will meet one of our dentists to talk through your smile goals, what you like, what you would like to improve, and what realistic results look like for your specific tooth shade. We examine your teeth and gums and, if everything looks healthy, we take a digital intraoral scan of your teeth. There are no physical impressions, the scan is comfortable, takes just a few minutes, and produces an accurate 3D model from which your bespoke whitening trays are fabricated.
While your trays are being made, we give you a prescription desensitising toothpaste to use for the two weeks before whitening begins. This is a key part of the Pennington Dental whitening protocol, preparing the teeth in advance makes a significant difference to comfort during treatment. The same desensitising toothpaste is then used inside the trays alongside the whitening gel throughout the programme.
When your trays are ready, we walk you through the process and answer any remaining questions. Whitening happens at home, wear the trays at night for as little as two hours, or ideally overnight, for the best results. We see you for a review at four weeks and again at six weeks. Both appointments are included in the £299 fee.
This is very individual and depends on your starting shade, the nature of your staining, and how consistently you follow the whitening protocol. Most patients achieve a change of several shades, enough to make a clearly visible difference in photographs and in person. We record your starting shade at your consultation so we can compare accurately at your two-week review.
Some deep intrinsic staining, caused by certain antibiotics or by developmental factors, esponds less dramatically to whitening. Your dentist will give you an honest assessment of what to expect during your consultation.
Because you keep your bespoke trays permanently, top-up whitening is simple and inexpensive. Most patients find a single syringe of gel every six months is enough to maintain their shade. Avoiding or reducing the main staining culprits, tea, coffee, red wine, and smoking, extends your results considerably.
Teeth whitening at Pennington Dental is £299 using the Boutique Whitening system. This all-inclusive fee covers your consultation, bespoke whitening trays, and your complete gel kit for the full 4 to 6 week programme.
