At Pennington Dental, we offer a membership plan that covers your essential preventative care for a fixed monthly fee. Here is what you need to know.

What does a dental membership plan typically include?

Plans vary by practice, but a well-structured membership typically covers two dental check-up appointments per year, two hygienist appointments per year, any routine X-rays taken at your check-up appointments, and a discount on additional treatments and cosmetic procedures. Some plans also include worldwide dental emergency cover — a practical benefit for patients who travel frequently.

Who benefits most from a membership plan?

I have been offering membership plans to my patients in both Kenilworth and Stratford Upon Avon for over 25 years and they consistently deliver the most value for patients who commit to attending their regular check-up and hygienist appointments. If you consistently attend twice a year for both, the plan pays for itself and typically saves you money compared to paying for each appointment individually. The discount on additional treatments —including composite and amalgamn fillings as well dentures and extractions is 15% adds further value for anyone who uses the practice for cosmetic or restorative treatments.

Patients who struggle to budget for dental care also find plans helpful for a simpler reason: the cost is already factored into their monthly outgoings, so there is no financial hurdle between them and attending their appointments.

NHS vs private membership plans

NHS dental treatment is provided at a fixed band charge — currently £26.80 for Band 1, £73.50 for Band 2, and £319.10 for Band 3 in England. NHS check-ups are available to registered patients. However, many patients find that private care — including through a membership plan — offers benefits that NHS provision cannot: longer appointment times, access to a consistent dentist of their choosing, shorter waiting times, and access to the full range of treatments including cosmetic options.

A membership plan is a private arrangement and covers private treatment only. It offers a structured, cost-effective alternative to pay-as-you-go private dentistry.

The patients who join our membership plan and attend regularly have less dental disease and greater oral health, when things do go worng they are usually small and dealt with switly, some of my patients have been on the plans for decades and their oral health has been maintained all of that time.
