Our dental clinic is open and you can read our COVID-safe procedures here.
We have unfortunately had to temporarily stop our beauty treatments in line with Government regulations. All existing appointments will be rescheduled.
Our Kenilworth practice provides the full range of dental implant services for patients in Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Balsall Common, and the surrounding area. Dental implants are widely considered the gold standard for replacing missing teeth, and our team has the experience and training to deliver this treatment to the highest standard.
Here is a step-by-step guide to what the process involves, so you know exactly what to expect if you decide to proceed.
Your journey begins with a no-obligation consultation. We take the time to understand your situation, how the tooth was lost, how long the gap has been present, and what your goals are for treatment. We examine your teeth and gums, take X-rays, and assess the health and volume of the bone at the implant site. This appointment gives us everything we need to advise you accurately on suitability, the likely treatment timeline, and cost.
The surgical placement of the implant is carried out under local anaesthetic. The area is fully numb before we begin. Using a precisely guided technique, the titanium implant fixture is placed into the jawbone at the correct angle and depth. The procedure typically takes 45 minutes to an hour for a single implant. Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the experience is — the most common feedback is that extraction is more uncomfortable than implant placement.
After placement, there is a short recovery period. Mild swelling and discomfort in the days following surgery are normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. We provide you with clear aftercare instructions and are always available to answer questions during your recovery.
Over the following three to six months, the titanium implant fuses with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration. This is what gives implants their remarkable stability — the fixture becomes a permanent part of your jaw structure, capable of supporting full biting forces. During this period, you will wear a temporary restoration that maintains your smile and function while healing progresses.
Once osseointegration is confirmed, we attach the abutment and take impressions for your permanent ceramic crown. The crown is crafted to match the size, shape, and shade of your surrounding teeth. When it is fitted, the result is a restoration that looks and feels entirely natural. Most patients find it difficult to tell the difference between their implant and their natural teeth.
Dental implants are straightforward to care for, brush and floss around them exactly as you would natural teeth. Regular dental check-ups and hygienist appointments are important to maintain the health of the gum and bone around the implant. With good oral hygiene and regular professional care, implants routinely last 15 to 20 years or more.
It is also worth noting that the ceramic crown, like all ceramic restorations, may eventually need to be replaced due to wear, but the implant fixture itself, once integrated, is designed to be a permanent structure.
